Hot and Humid, Eat Your Heart Out

Sunday - 06 March 2011 - Baquia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines

If anyone asks, don't think that a three hour flight starting at 12:55
am to Charlotte, NC to connect to a five hour flight to Barbados is a
good idea. Denver International Airport at midnight is very spooky,
the three hour flight is full of cranky people (and I should know),
and the long flight to Barbados is on US Air. US Air is the Sam's Club
of airlines. They give very little (actually no service) but make
announcements continuously to try to sell meals, drinks, duty free,
and CREDIT CARDS. A request for water was answered with, "We're
setting up. It will be a while." A "while" was about 3 hours. May I
suggest you avoid any flight starting with "US".

The Silver Cloud is the oldest Silversea ship, but all the "soft
goods" are new. The ship hasn't ever been better. The crew is new but
very well trained. The Maitre d' is Jorge, a Portugese gentlemen
(swarthy and quite handsome) who appears in many of the ship's
brochures. He recognized me and immediately arranged for my dairy free
morning pastries and milk free chocolate desserts. Once the stewards
learn the difference from "lactose free" and "glutton free", I will
get these things. It usually takes only one day. I am quite confident
about tomorrow.

Today we stopped at Bequia of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Bequia
is a Grenadine. St. Vincent is where the 3000 plus cruise ships dock.
There were two of them in Barbados. Bequia is where 250 passenger
cruise ships (us only today) anchor. Barbara tried to shot it with a
cannon. Fortunately, the spotter was a tee-shirt salesman and she
missed.

All is wonderful. More later.....

Mike

PS. I have started the blog for this cruise at
http://cbu-carib1103.blogger.com and have a graphic for the cruise up
as well as an interesting sidelight on this blog plus the above.

PPS. I'm using a somewhat abbreviated mailing list for this and
probably future notices and have therefore sent the e-mail to only one
address per household. Please share.

PPPS(?). Please check from time to time on the blog since I will only
send out the notices occasionally for numerous reasons.

PPPPS. Having a wonderful time, wish you were here.
